Environment

The DPT technology development programme categorises development tasks against the Twelve Principles of Green Chemistry, allowing analysis of development activity against sustainable criteria. Click here for more information on these twelve principles.

Many of our technologies are able to use bio-derived raw materials, which are in principle renewable. These include:
Natural Detergent Alcohols – Fatty alcohols from natural oils – palm or coconut oil converted to C10-C18 NDAs with virtually no effluents (high recycle rates of by-products)
Ethyl Acetate – Bio-ethanol converted to Ethyl Acetate (Hydrogen by-product)
Propylene glycol – Converts glycerine by-product from Bio-diesel production to propylene glycol
Bio-diesel from waste oils - Converts fatty acids derived from waste cooking oils and non-edible animal fats (feed stocks that do not compete with food production) to bio-diesel
