Ethylamines, Propylamines and Butylamines
Davy Process Technology has proven technologies for the production of a range of higher amines including ethylamines, propylamines and butylamines. These plants can be either purpose built for a single product or can be designed to operate on a campaign basis to produce a range of amines. They have considerable flexibility and are able to strategically respond to changing market conditions to give the most profitable output.
The following higher amine process technologies are available:
Ethylamines:- Ethylamines are used in a wide range of applications including agrochemical production, as pharmaceutical intermediates and as a foundry core curing agent.
Propyl Amines:- The major use for monoisopropylamine is in the production of glyphosate salt (Round-up). N-propylamines are used in agrochemical production, particularly dinitroaniline herbicide.
Butylamines:- Butylamines are produced from normal, secondary and tertiary butanol feedstock and have a wide range of specialist applications, predominantly as intermediates for pesticide production and as a hardener for epoxy and rubber compounds.
Cyclohexylamine:- Cyclohexylamine is used as a corrosion inhibitor in steam systems. It also has uses in the production of herbicides and rubber chemicals. In some parts of the world large quantities of cyclohexylamine are used for the production cyclamate sweeteners.
Ethylhexylamine:- 2-Ethylhexylamine has limited uses as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals, dyes, insecticides, rubber accelerators and antioxidants. It is used a floatation agent and corrosion inhibitor.
