Dimethyl Formamide
Dimethyl Formamide (DMF) is used as a solvent in a number of specialist applications, particularly for selective extraction and fibre spinning. It is widely used for butadiene extraction and other selective gas absortion duties. DMF is also employed in the pharmaceutical and electronics industries.

Dimethylformamide (DMF) is produced by reacting dimethylamine with carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalyst at low temperature and pressure in a specialised reactor. Crude DMF is separated from the homogeneous catalyst and then refined to a high quality product.
The Davy Process Technology DMF process has been used in over ten plant designs and is well-proven commercially. The simple system integrates well to our methylamines plant design to enable production of this high added value material.
